The gaping blackbird is named after the local fauna of suburban Phoenix. Needless to say, it’s hot around here.
So far, I have just been reviewing books, from the following genres:
- science fiction (especially from the 1950’s through the 1970’s)
- crime fiction (especially from the Hard Case Crime label)
- literary fiction (less often, but yes it is a genre of its own, even if it doesn’t admit it)
My ratings are on a scale of 10 correspond to goodreads stars as such:
- 8 to 10: 5 stars
- 7: 4 stars
- 5 to 6: 3 stars
- 3 to 4: 2 stars
- 1 to 2: 1 star
I almost never rate a book a 1 (which means I just could not finish it), and I rarely rate a book a 10 (once every hundred books, at most), so realistically my scale runs 2 to 9.
